TOUCH TANK

The Texaco touch tank nestled in on Menemsha's Commercial Dock is an exciting haven for both children and adults alike. You never know what might end up in the tank to "check out." It could be squid that someone has jigged up, hermit crabs caught by small children in Crab Corner or trigger fish and Jonah Crab brought in by a commercial fisherman.

UPKEEP

Donations towards the upkeep and maintenance of the tank are greatly appreciated.

ENJOYMENT

the touch tank offers hours of enjoyment to kids of all ages.

the tank is "deployed" the day the island kids get out of school and is "packed away" the day they go back.

occasionally, the time frame it's on the dock is extended --lucky us when that happens!

CLEANING

sometimes cleaning and maintenance becomes a group activity (and learning experience)

TEACHING MOMENTS

little fish, hermit crabs, "prehistoric" horseshoe crabs, sea scallops...you name it, they've all come for a visit. you can learn something new each day (if you want to!) just by scanning the tank!

As a rule of thumb, you will find the tank on the dock when the local kids are on summer vacation.
